Raven Pro Retirement, Transition to Raven Workbench

We will be retiring Raven Pro, transitioning to Raven Workbench this year

After over 20 years of supporting Raven Pro, a leading software tool for audio analysis and passive acoustic monitoring, we have made the decision to retire the application. As technology continues to evolve and the field of conservation and research advances, we are committed to providing our users with the most effective tools to meet their needs. To that end, we are introducing Raven Workbench, a suite of new applications designed to support your audio analysis and passive acoustic monitoring workflow.

What is Raven Workbench?

Raven Workbench is a comprehensive suite of four applications designed to support your audio analysis and passive acoustic monitoring workflow. The suite includes:

  • Raven Expedition: a tool for generating long-term spectral averages, allowing you to analyze and visualize large audio datasets.
  • Raven Intelligence: an application that applies machine learning models to audio data, enabling you to automate sound detection and classification and train new sound detector-classifiers.
  • Raven Compass: a dataset management tool that helps you convert audio file format and rename audio files, making it easier to find and analyze the information you need.
  • Raven Annotate: an application for annotation, review, measurement, and other analysis tasks, allowing you to work with your audio data in a more flexible and efficient way.

One of the key benefits of Raven Workbench is its flexibility. Unlike Raven Pro, which is a single, all-in-one application, Raven Workbench is a suite of specialized tools that can be used individually or together to address specific tasks and workflows. This modular approach makes it easier to customize your workflow and focus on the specific tasks that matter most to you.

What’s the best part? Raven Workbench is free!

We believe that everyone should have access to the best tools for audio analysis and passive acoustic monitoring, regardless of budget or resources. That’s why we’re making Raven Workbench available at no cost to users.

Why are we making this transition?

We are committed to advancing the understanding and conservation of wildlife and habitats. As part of this mission, we strive to provide the best possible tools and resources to support the work of conservation professionals and researchers.

Raven Pro has been a powerful tool for audio analysis and passive acoustic monitoring, but we recognize that it has limitations in terms of modern usability and functionality. By transitioning to Raven Workbench, we aim to provide a more effective and efficient solution that aligns with our values of innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity.

We believe that Raven Workbench will help to democratize access to advanced audio analysis and passive acoustic monitoring tools, making it possible for more people to contribute effectively to wildlife conservation.

What does this mean for existing Raven Pro users?

While we will no longer be selling or supporting new licenses for Raven Pro, we will continue to provide the application for free, without support or updates, for those who still wish to use it. This will ensure that you can continue to access the features and functionality you’re familiar with, even if you’re not yet ready to transition to Raven Workbench.

What about users who recently purchased a license for Raven Pro?

We understand that some users may have recently purchased a license for Raven Pro, and we appreciate your investment in our software. We want to assure you that we’re committed to supporting our users in the transition to Raven Workbench.

While we will not be offering refunds or credits for recent purchases, we want to emphasize that Raven Workbench is a significant upgrade to Raven Pro, and we’re confident that it will provide you with the tools and functionality you need to achieve your goals.
