Linux Installation of Raven Workbench Apps

Introduction

This article discusses how to install the four Raven Workbench apps in Ubuntu. We have not tested installation on other Linux distributions.

Go to the web page of the Raven Workbench app you want to install
Download the Linux installer.
Open the Files app. Navigate to the “Downloads” folder.
Right-click the downloaded installer and select “Open with Another Application”.
Select “Software install”.
Click the “Install” button. The app will be installed in /opt.
To install a desktop icon that will make it easier to open the app:
- In the Files app, navigate to /usr/share/applications.
- Copy the file with the name of the app you just installed to your Desktop.
- Right-click the desktop icon and select “Allow Launching”. You should now be able to double-click the icon to open the app.
To add the proper Raven Workbench image to your new desktop icon:
- Right-click the desktop icon and select “Properties”.
- In the “Basic” tab, click the blank image with a gear at the top.
- Navigate to /opt/<app name>/lib, where <app name> is the name of the Raven Workbench app you just installed.
- Select the .png file with the Raven image and click the “Open” button. Your new desktop icon should look like a Raven now.
